SERVICES FRIDAY FOR WILMA SCHEER

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 6, at St. Paul Lutheran Church for Wilma M. Scheer, 103, who died January 3, 1984, at the Skilled Care Center of Memorial Hospital of Dodge County.

The Rev. Dennis Maaske will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Church Cemetery.

Wilma M.J. Scheer was born November 26, 1880, at Delliehausen, Germany, to Henry and Louise Gehrke Schormann. She came to the United States in 1898 and had lived in Arlington since her marriage to Frederick Scheer February 14, 1900 at Haystown, Nebraska. She had been at the Annex in Fremont seven years.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church near Arlington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frederick, December 10, 1945; three sons, Gerhardt Scheer, Ottis Scheer, Alfred Scheer; three brothers, henry Schormann, Erich Schormann and August Schormann; and three sisters, Mrs. Alma Sperling, Mrs. Olga Stranghoener and Mrs. Louise Jackob.

She is survived by three sons, Wallace Scheer, Oscar Scheer, and Obert Scheer, all of Arlington; and five daughters, Mrs. Esther Grebe, Fremont; Mrs. Frieda Walkenhorst, Arlington; Mrs. Helen Geisler, Lincoln; Mrs. Arthur (Wilma) Krohn, Hooper; and Mrs. Walter (Lillie) Krohn, Fremont. Twenty-seven grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; 65 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rosa Schormann, Hooper, also survive her.

Pallbearers will be Glen Echtenkamp, Ted Walkenhorst, Kenneth Geisler, David Krohn, Wally Plugge, and Allyn Poling.

Wilma Minna Johanne Scheer was born November 26, 1880 at Delliehausen, Germany, the daughter of Henry and Louise (Gehrke) Schormann. She was baptized into the Lutheran Faith, December 26, 1880. Having been duly instructed in the Christian doctrine, she was confirmed at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Volpriehausen, Germany by Pastor Harry Engle on April 7, 1895. In May of 1898, she came with her parents and family to Bristol Township, Sherman County, Nebraska. She was united in Holy Matrimony with Frederick Scheer on February 14, 1900 at Haystown, Nebraska by her brother, Pastor A.A. Schormann. She had resided on the same farm northeast of Arlington, Nebraska since her marriage.

Wilma passed away, Tuesday, January 3, 1984 at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County Annex, Fremont, Nebraska at the age of 103 years, 1 month and 8 days. She is survived by 3 sons, Wallace, Oscar and Obert; 5 daughters, Mrs. Esther Grebe, Mrs. Frieda Walkenhorst, Mrs. Helen Geiseler, Mrs. Arthur (Wilma) Krohn and Mrs. Walter (Lilly) Krohn; sister, Rosa Schormann, and by 27 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren and 65 great-great-grandchildren. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 sons, Gerhardt, Otis and Alfred; 3 brothers, Henry, Erich and August Schormann and 3 sisters, Mrs. Alma Sperling, Mrs. Olga Stranghoener and Mrs. Louise Jackob.
