DEATH TAKES GUS SCHEFFLER EARLY TODAY

VETERAN BLAIR HARNESS MAKER DIED TODAY AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Long in failing health, and confined to his bed recently, Gus Scheffler, 73, veteran Blair harness manufacturer, died at 4 a.m. today at his home, 308 west Lincoln street.

The body was taken to the Campbell mortuary.

Resident of Blair since 1899, Mr. Scheffler had operated the Scheffler Harness Shop during all of those 43 years, and was one of the best-known harness men in the state.

BORN IN GERMANY

Mr. Scheffler was born November 11, 1869 at Albertsford, East Prussia, and came to the United States with his parents at the age of 14. He resided in Denver a number of years, then moved to Creston, Nebraska. He and Anna Davis were married at Bridgewater, South Dakota, August 4, 1896.

Mrs. Scheffler died in September, 1937. Surviving Mr. Scheffler are three daughters, Mrs. Burt Williams (Inez) of Rockford, Illinois; Mrs. Alfred O. Sick (Gussie) and Mrs. Wilbur H. Lowe (Helen), both of Blair; and one son, Orval Scheffler, Blair. There are eight grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters and a brother.

GUS SCHEFFLER DIED APRIL 22

Gus Scheffler, in the harness retail business in Blair since 1899, died at his home on West Lincoln Street this Thursday morning.

Deceased was born in Germany November 11, 1869, and came to the United States when 14 years of age, living at Denver and later Creston, Nebraska before coming to Blair.

His wife died in September, 1937, and since that time Mrs. Helen Lowe has made her home with him, and gave him every care possible. For years he had suffered with rheumatism, and at last the dread disease took its toll.

He leaves four children, Mrs. Burt Williams of Rockford, Illinois; Orval Scheffler of Blair; Mrs. A. O. Sick and Mrs. Helen Lowe of Blair. A brother and three sisters also survive him.
