LEONARD A. SCHEIBE, 80

Leonard A. Scheibe, 80, of Blair, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 27, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Interment with military graveside honors was at the Blair Cemetery.

Leonard A. Scheibe was born Jan. 23, 1928, in Cushing to Reinhardt and Laura (Berst) Scheibe. The family later moved to Wolbach, where he attended school.

He entered the United States Army in 1951 and was a veteran of the Korean War.

After leaving the Army he moved to the Blair area and worked in Omaha for Fruehauf until he retired in 1992.

On July 13, 1968, he married Beverly Longcor. He spent his retirement years in his garden and woodworking.

Mr. Scheibe was a member of the American Legion Post 348 and the VFW Post 5637.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Bev. and “Troubles,” the cat, along with his sister and brother-in-law, Eline and Richard Morris of Cedar Rapids.

Other survivors are his sons, Gene Scheibe of Mountain View, Wyo., and Chris Scheibe of Riverton, Wyo.; nieces, Sue and Willie Welchert and family of Fort Calhoun, Melody and John Ebert and family of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Terri Gordon and family of Harland, Iowa; nephews, Dave and Lynn Scheibe and family of Blair, and Robert and Linda Scheibe and family of Missouri.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and a nephew and niece.
