FORMER ORUM RESIDENT, 97, DIES ON WEST COAST

Word has been received here of the death of a former countian, Miss Christina Anderson. She died Sunday in Lynwood, California.

Christina Anderson was born March 28, 1875. Her father was Eric Andersen, one of the first Danish imigrants to settle in what is now known as the Orum Community, west of Blair. She attended Bisbee School and was confirmed in the Danish Lutheran Church. Her Uncle, Nels Andersen lived just east of the present site of the Orum Lutheran Church. He had a small store there and that community was known as Andersenville. Later a store was built where Orum is now and the hub of the community shifted there.

Miss Andersen moved with the father and brother to South Gate, California in 1917 and later to Huntington Park.

Her sister Emma was married to John H. Taylor and their children survive. Those living around Blair are Harold, Howard and Russell Taylor all of the Orum vicinity. Mrs. Merton Winchell of Blair is also a niece.

Her funeral was Wednesday in Huntington Park. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Taylor of Blair were among those attending.
