Freddie A. Townsend Jr., 47

Freddie A. Townsend Jr., 47, of Omaha, died Friday, April 5, 2013, in Omaha.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at the Campbell-Aman Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Herman Cemetery.

Freddie A. Townsend Jr. was born August 20, 1965, in Blair to Freddie and Charlotte (Colgan) Townsend.

He was a graduate of the Tekamah-Herman High School Class of 1983.

He served in the Nebraska National Guard from 1983 to 1985.

He spent most of his adult life working as a sheet metal worker.

On August 28, 1993, he married Lori Heinssen in Blair.

Mr. Townsend enjoyed playing softball, golfing and fishing. He was a huge fan of Duke basketball, 49ers football and Detroit Pistons basketball, and of course, the Huskers.

He is survived by his wife, Lori Heinssen Townsend; daughter, Ashlie Townsend; parents, Freddie and Charlotte Townsend; sister, Sheila Frye; beloved nieces, Nicole and Samantha Plagge; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph and Viola Colgan and Frank and Angie Townsend; aunts, Barbara Frye, Gladys Townsend and Delma Townsend; uncles, Franklin Townsend and cousin Tina Ladd.
