Lorena E. Hoxsie, 88, of Fremont, formerly of Kennard, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Arbor Manor.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A luncheon at the Blair V.F.W. Club will follow the service.

Lorena E. Prawitz was born June 16, 1924, at Royal, the daughter of Fred and Mary (Osmer) Prawitz.

She attended college and taught school in a small country schoolhouse.

On November 16, 1944, she married Vernon A. Hoxsie. They had three children. The couple moved to Blair in 1957 and then to Kennard in 1970.

She worked at Mode O'Day and then at Campbell’s Soup in Fremont.

When the couple retired, they made wooden crafts for several years, which they sold at various craft shows.

She was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion Auxiliary.

She will be missed greatly by her beloved husband, Vernon, of 68 years, children, family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Vernon A. Hoxsie; daughter Sandra “Sandie” Jack of Topeka, Kan.; and son and daughter-in-law, Terry W. and Priscilla Hoxsie of Dell Rapids, S.D; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Vernon Leroy “Butch” and Barbara Ann Hoxsie; sisters, Bette M. Dahmen, Vivian Michaelson and Zama Prawitz.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
