RuthAnn (Neuman) Critchfield, 87

RuthAnn (Neuman) Critchfield, 87, formerly of Fort Calhoun, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013.

Her family had a private gathering. She was intered at the Golden Gate National Veterans Cemetery in San Bruno, Calif., where her husband, Bill, is intered.

RuthAnn Neuman was born September 23, 1925, and raised on the family farm west of Fort Calhoun, the daughter of Ann and C. B. Neuman.

She attended Long Creek country school and Fort Calhoun High School. She received an accounting degree from a business school in Omaha.

In 1944, she and her sister, Jean, relocated to Oakland, Calif. During World War II, she worked in payroll at the Richmond Shipyards.

On May 30, 1947, she married Bill Critchfield in Oakland.

In later years, they moved to the Southern Bay area, San Jose, where she was employed by Kaiser Aluminum Corp. and worked in accounting for 28 years.

Mrs. Critchfield was an accomplished bridge player, becoming a Life Master. She enjoyed dining out and socializing with family and friends.

She will be remembered as a beautiful positive light in her family's lives and will be missed and loved forever.

She is survived by a son, Todd; three grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Harry Wenberg; one nephew and his wife and two grandnieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, of 44 years.
