Harold L. Walsh, 99, of Blair, died Monday, April 1, 2013, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 4, in the Tekamah Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion LaFrenz Post 15 and V.F.W. Bataan Post 3304. There will be no visitation.

Harold L. Walsh was born April 16, 1913, in Omaha, to Harry and Cora (Smith) Walsh.

His family moved to Tekamah while he was in the fourth grade and he graduated from Tekamah High School in 1931.

Mr. Walsh served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Tekamah V.F.W. Bataan Post 3304 and American Legion LaFrenze Post 15.

He worked as a lineman at REA for four years and then was employed at the Omaha World-Herald for 24 years as a supervisor in the circulation department.

Upon retirement, he moved to Blair.

He is survived by his son, Tom Dick of Washington state; one niece and her husband, Pat and Norman Shamburg of Tekamah; nephews and spouses, Mark and Lorraine Smith of Papillion, Jerry and Cathy Smith of Union, and Kim Miller of Tekamah; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Sackett; half sister, Mary Klein; half brother, Jack Miller; and two nieces, Sandy Miller and Anne Benck.

Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Tekamah.

Pelan Funeral Services in Tekamah is in charge of arrangements.
