ANNA LOUISE SCHMIDT, 89

Anna Louise Schmidt was born December 10, 1899, in Fort Calhoun, Nebraska, to Hans and Johanna Schmidt; and baptized May 27, 1900 in Fort Calhoun.

On June 20, 1923, she married Ernest H. Schmidt, affectionately known to longtime area residents as “Fiddle.” “Fiddle” died in 1975.

Anna lived most of her married life in Fort Calhoun, where “Fiddle” was a barber.

Later, they moved to Omaha. The past few years she resided at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

Anna was a member of the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church, and the Order of the Eastern Star, into which she was initiated in October, 1927, and of which she was a Past Matron, and Past Representative of Ohio for the Grand Chapter.

Anna Schmidt died February 23, 1989 in Blair at the age of 89 and is survived by the niece she and “Fiddle” raised, Eleanore, who is Mrs. Allen Rasmussen, of Valrico, Florida.

She is also survived by two sisters, Alma Wiese, of Missouri Valley, Iowa; Amanda Harder, of Elkhorn, Nebraska; and one brother, Harry Schmidt of Omaha; three grand-nephews; three great-grand-nephews; one great-grand-niece; and numerous other relatives and friends.
