BERTHA J. SCHMIDT, 93

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 15 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Arlington for Bertha J. Schmidt, 93 of Arlington who died December 11 at Arbor Manor in Fremont. Rev. Michael Rogers will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday form 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington and one hour prior to service time on Friday at the church.

Bertha J. Schmidt was born January 11, 1902 in rural Arlington. She grew up in the rural Arlington area.

She married Walter J. Schmidt December 12, 1923 at Arlington. They farmed northeast of Arlington.

She moved into Arlington in 1967 and had resided at Arbor Manor since May, 1993.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid of the church. She was a former member of the Jolly Larks Club, a neighborhood card club, at Arlington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Minnie Hilgenkamp Rinas; her husband, Walter on November 10, 1973; a brother, Paul Rinas and a great-granddaughter, Faith.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dean W. and Ann Schmidt of Arlington; a daughter and son-in-law, Erma and Everett Trisler of Fremont; two sisters, Olga Strehlman and Ella Rinas, both of Arlington; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Gary Schmidt, Terrance Schmidt, Richard Kreutzer, Larry Rinas, Raymond Hoeneman, Marvin Hoeneman and Floyd Hilgenkamp.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Bertha J. Schmidt, the daughter of Theodore and Minnie (Hilgenkamp) Rinas, was born January 11, 1902 at rural Arlington, Nebraska. Bertha married Walter J. Schmidt on December 12, 1923 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Arlington. The couple farmed northeast of Arlington for many years and moved into Arlington in 1967. Walter died November 10, 1973.

Bertha was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid, and was a former member of the Jolly Larks Club, a neighborhood card club.

She passed from this life on Monday, December 11, 1995 at Arbor Manor in Fremont, at the age of 93 years and 11 months.

Bertha is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dean W. and Ann Schmidt of Arlington; her daughter and son-in-law, Erma and Everett Trisler of Fremont; sisters, Olga Strehlman and Ella Rinas, both of Arlington; 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; brother, Paul Rinas; and a great-granddaughter, Faith.

The family of Bertha Schmidt wish to thank you for your kindness and sympathy and to invite you to lunch in the parish hall immediately following the committal service.
