DEAN W. SCHMIDT, 71

Dean W. Schmidt, 71, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, at his home in Arlington.

Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington. Interment is in the St. Paul’s Cemetery.

Dean Walter Schmidt was born March 30, 1936, in Arlington to Walter J. and Bertha (Rinas) Schmidt. He lived his entire life on the family homeplace. He was a farmer and worked parttime at Marshall Nurseries and Consolidated Blenders Inc., both in Arlington.

He was baptized April 12, 1936, and confirmed into the Lutheran faith on April 2, 1950, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School, and was a member of St. Paul’s Church.

On Jan. 28, 1961, he married Ann L. Meyer at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah. She survives him, as do two sons and a daughter-in –law, Gary and Anita Schmidt, and Terrence Schmidt, all of Fremont; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Richard Kreutzer of Kearney; sister, Erma Trisler of Fremont; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a granddaughter, Faith Kreutzer.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Dean Walter Schmidt, the son of Walter J. and Bertha (Rinas) Schmidt, was born on March 30, 1936 on the family farm near Arlington, Nebraska. He was baptized on April 12, 1936 and confirmed into the Lutheran faith on April 2, 1950 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, north of Arlington, where he was a lifetime member. He graduated from St. Paul Lutheran School. He married Ann L. Meyer on January 28, 1961 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah, Nebraska. He farmed on the same farm where he lived all his life. He worked part time for Marshall Nurseries and Consolidated Blenders Inc., both at Arlington.

Dean passed from this life on Friday, August 3, 2007, at his home, at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 4 days. He is survived by his wife, Ann; sons, Gary and wife Anita Schmidt and Terrence Schmidt, all of Fremont; daughter, Carol and husband Richard Kreutzer of Kearney, Nebraska; ; sister, Erma Trisler of Fremont; 5 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; and 5 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandchild, Faith Kreutzer.

The family of Dean Schmidt would like to thank you for your kindness and sympathy and invite you to lunch at the parish hall immediately following the committal service.
