EDNA M. SCHMIDT, 93

Edna M. Schmidt, 93, of Arlington died on Nov. 29, 1988 at the Arbor Manor Nursing Home.

Edna was born on Nov. 24, 1895, in rural Arlington. She lived nearly all of her life at Arlington and during the last eight and a half years she lived at Arbor Manor.

Edna M. Heuerman married Alfred E. Schmidt on June 7, 1916, at Arlington. Mr. Schmidt died on Feb. 20, 1933. Mrs. Schmidt was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Womens Laymen League at Arlington.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Katherine (Hartung) Heuerman; a son, Donald; her husband Alfred; and granddaughter Kathy Schmidt.

Survivors include a daughter, Faye (Mrs. Ray) Wilkening of Fremont; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lottie Marshall of Fremont and Lucille (Mrs. Ted) Mefford of Anaheim, Ca.

Funeral services for Edna Schmidt were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 1988, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Arlington. The Rev. Dennis Maaske officiated. Pallbearers were Ronald M. Peterson, Curtis Schmidt, Fred Heuerman, Roscoe Osterman, James Marshall and Don Heuerman. The organist was Mrs. Helen Hilgenkamp.

Memorials may be established at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington.

Edna Marie Schmidt, the daughter of Fred and Katherine (Hartung) Heuerman, was born November 24, 1895 at rural Arlington, Nebraska. She lived most of her life on a farm north west of Arlington. Edna married Alfred E. Schmidt on June 7, 1916 at Arlington. He preceded her in death on February 20, 1933.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Womens Laymens League.

Edna passed from this life on Tuesday, November 29, 1988 at Arbor Manor Nursing Home in Fremont, at the age of 93 years and 5 days.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ray (Faye) Wilkening of Fremont; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Schmidt of Arlington; sisters, Lottie Marshall of Fremont and Mrs. Ted (Lucille) Mefford of Anaheim, California; 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Donald; a granddaughter, Kathy Schmidt; brothers, Arthur, Chet and Fred Heuerman; sisters, Emma Smith, Martha Peterson, Florence Heuerman, Elva McChesney and one infant sister.
