SERVICES HELD FRIDAY FOR ELLA SCHMIDT

Funeral services for Ella Schmidt, 78 of Arlington, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Arlington with the Rev. Dennis Maaske officiating.

Mrs. Schmidt died Monday evening at Fremont’s Arbor Manor Nursing Home.

She was born on June 4, 1905 in rural Arlington and lived in the area her entire life. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church near Arlington.

Mrs. Schmidt was preceded in death by her husband, Harry C. Schmidt, on August 15, 1944. The couple was married on August 22, 1928 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Arlignton.

Other survivors include one daughter, Mrs. June Meier of Arlington; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were: Harlen Just, Larry Walkenhorst, Raymond Hilgenkamp, Milton Hilgenkamp, Ronald Hilgenkamp and Darrell Hilgenkamp.

Ella Anna Elizabeth Schmidt was born on a farm near Arlington, Nebr. June 4, 1905 to William and Mathilda (Hilgenkamp) Walkenhorst. A life-long resident of the area, Ella was baptized June 18, 1905 and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith April 13, 1919 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

She was united in Holy Matrimony with Harry C. Schmidt, August 22, 1928 at St. Paul’s Church. Harry preceded Ella in death on August 15, 1944.

Ella passed from this earthly life Monday evening, February 20, 1984 at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 16 days. Surviving her are her daughter, Mrs. Willard (June) Meier of Arlington; 3 grandchildren, Mrs. Thomas (Patti) Nielsen of Blair, Brian Meier of Miami, Florida and Mark Meier of Lincoln, Nebr. and 1 great-grandson, Erik Nielsen.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Harry Walkenhorst.
