SERVICES FOR SCHMIDT TODAY
Funeral services for Ernest E. Schmidt of Blair were held this morning at 10:30 p.m. (?), Oct. 9, at Campbell Funeral Home. Rev. Gordon Patterson officiated. Burial followed at the Blair Cemetery.
Ernest, 84, was owner and operator of Schmidt Monument Company of Blair until 1967. He last resided at the Crowell Home. His wife, Dorothy (Beedle) Schmidt preceded him in death in 1976.
Schmidt was a past secretary of the Blair Board of Education and the Blair Cemetery Board. He was a member of the American Legion, Blair Masonic Lodge, Blair Rotary and past member of the Blair Volunteer Fire Department. He graduated from Blair High School in 1917.
His parents were E.W. and Adele (Weygand) Schmidt. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his sister, Anna Schmidt of Lansing, Illinois.
Pallbearers were Ernest Porter, Ralph Beales, Dick Lippincott, Tom Lippincott, James Pounds, and Frank Reyzlik.
