ERNEST H. SCHMIDT

Ernest H. “Ernie” Schmidt, age 79, of Tekamah passed away on Friday morning, June 24th, 1988 at the Memorial Community Hospital in Blair, Nebraska after a brief illness.

Ernie was born on April 4th, 1909 at Fort Calhoun, Nebraska to Hans and Johanna (Hansen) Schmidt.

He was united in marriage to Rose N. Thunn on February 7th, 1935 at Omaha, Nebraska. Ernie and Rose farmed south of Craig, Nebraska for many years before moving to Tekamah thirteen years ago.

Ernie was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah for over forty years.

Survivors include his wife, Rose N. Schmidt of Tekamah; one son, Melvin (and his wife, Phyllis) Schmidt of Craig; one brother, Harry Schmidt of Omaha; three sisters: Anna Schmidt of Blair, Amanda Harder of Elk Horn, and Alma Wiese of Missouri Valley, Iowa; several nieces and nephews.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents and six sisters.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 27th, 1988 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah with Rev. David L. Nystrom officiating. Interment was in the Craig Cemetery at Craig, Nebraska.

Arrangements were being handled by the Hamel & Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah.
