Peter Schmidt Gone

Peter Schmidt, aged eight-eight years, and an early settler of the county, passed away at his home in Calhoun on last Thursday, December 20. At the time of his death the wife was also very low and not expected to live.

Deceased was born in Germany and came to this county in his early life. For a number of years he lived on a farm west of Calhoun but in 1900 he sold the farm and moved to Calhoun where he has since resided.

The funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Calhoun and Interment was made in the Calhoun cemetery. The pall bearers were old life long friends: Henry Rohwer, Wm. Frahm, Detlef Kruse, Hans Schmidt, August Schroeder and Gus Lage.

Besides the aged wife he leaves one daughter, Mrs. Fritz Jahnel of Blair and three sons, Wm. of Florence; Peter, Jr. of Minnesota, and Henry at home.
