MRS. C. M. CHRISTENSEN PASSED AWAY

Mrs. C.M. Christensen, 604 west Park St., passed away at 1 o’clock this afternoon of complications following flu. She had been seriously ill but three or four days. She would have been 80 years of age the 23rd of July, so was too old to withstand much suffering.

The time of the funeral cannot be set until word is received from her son, Holder of New Orleans, who has been notified of his mother’s death by wire. Word was received this evening from the other son, Anton, of New York City, that he cannot come. Mrs. A.C. Debel, of this city, is the only other member of the family.

MRS. DEBEL’S MOTHER BURIED

FUNERAL OF MRS. C.M. CHRISTENSEN WAS HELD SUNDAY AFTERNOON FROM DANISH CHURCH

The funeral service for Mrs. C.M. Christensen was held at the Danish Lutheran Church at 2 o’clock last Sunday afternoon, Rev. H.H. Nielsen officiating. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

Word was received from Anton, of New York City, that he had been sick for three weeks and was unable to attend the funeral service. Holger did come from New Orleans for the service. Mrs. A.C. Debel, of this city, is the only other child living. Besides these she is survived by her husband and two sisters and one brother who live in Denmark.

Maren Knudsen was born near Odense, Denmark, July 23rd, 1848, so would have been 80 years of age had she lived until next month. She came to this country in 1881 and located in Lincoln, Neb., where she met, was wooed and won by C.M. Christensen, the marriage taking place September 22nd, 1883.

They made their home in Lincoln until 1892, when they moved out on a farm near Mason City, Custer county, this state, which was their home until 1909, when they moved to this city, residing here ever since. Mr. Christensen engaged in hog buying for some time and has served several terms as city councilman.

Mrs. Christensen was a member of the Danish Ev. Lutheran congregation of this city and was much interested in the work of the church as long as her health would let her. She had suffered an attack of flu some time ago and never recovered from its effects. Death came to her at 1 o’clock last Wednesday afternoon.

The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of their many friends in this, their first great sorrow, the loss of a loving and devoted wife and mother. The large attendance at the funeral service and the many beautiful floral offerings showed something of the high esteem she and the family are held in the community.
