#1-Pilot, January 9, 1929

Death entered the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Cleaver, who live two miles east of the river bridge and took their son, Hugh, sixteen years old, who had been sick just a few days with flu and pneumonia. The body was brought to the Blair cemetery by way of Omaha. This makes the second death in this home in the past year, another son, James, dying a short time ago. The parents and relatives have the sincere sympathy of their many friends in their great sorrow.

#2 Thursday, January 3, 1929 - The Tribune Hugh Clifford Cleaver died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Cleaver at Modale, Iowa early Monday morning following a short illness of pneumonia. The deceased was born in Blair May 6, 1913 and lived in this community for a number of years.
