ALVIS HUDLESON

Alvis Hudleson, reared to manhood on a farm north of Blair, passed away at the Nicholas Senn hospital in Omaha last Sunday at nine a.m., a victim of sleeping sickness.

Deceased was born October 25, 1878 in Indiana and with his parents came to this county when but a mere lad.

He was married on March 17, 1904 to Miss Katie Boisen and to them five children were born: Marvin, Marie, Elizabeth, LaVauna and Ellen, all of whom are living.

The wife passed away in 1918 while they were living in Wheatland, Wyoming and the body was brought to Blair, the old home, for interment and it was by her side that the husband was laid to rest. The funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the Christian church of which organization the deceased was a member, with Rev. Robb officiating.

Besides the children mentioned above and one grandson, the deceased leaves two brothers, Oliver of this place and Henry M. of Paoli, Ind. and two sisters, Mrs. J.D. Willard of Sauk Centre, Minnesota and Mrs. W.E. Beard of Wiggins, Colorado.

Alvis Hudleson was a man of conscientious scruples, an industrious, upright citizen, and after the loss of his wife, whom he idolized, he shouldered his burdens, bravely keeping his family of five together and caring for them as tenderly and lovingly as human kind could do. He was both mother and father to them and for his efforts he should receive the respect of all. He did what he could.

(Note that, in these two articles, his given name was spelled two ways: Alves and Alvis. His tombstone has Alves)
