HERMAN MAN DIES

LEO HUGELMAN DIES IN HERMAN AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Leo B. Hugelman died at the home of his mother, Mrs. Christine Hugelman, in Herman on December 4th, following a long and painful illness. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hugelman and was born August 31, 1884 on a farm near Herman. Practically all of his life was spent in Washington county.

In June 1907 he was married to Miss Anna Petersen, and to this union seven children were born, all of whom are living. For some time he was in charge of the Holmquist elevator interests in Herman but for the past eleven years the family lived on a farm near Spiker.

Funeral services were held from the Herman Baptist church last Saturday afternoon following which burial was made in the Herman cemetery. Surviving him besides his bereaved wife are his children, Kenneth, Bernice, Evelyn, Willard, Leo, jr., Howard and Ruthine; his mother, Mrs. Christine Hugelman; three brothers, William of Wakefield, Louis of Kennard and George of Bismark, N.D.; and two sisters, Mrs. C.I. Horn of Herman and Mrs. L.C. Ackerman of Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Leo B. Hugelman was born August 31, 1884 on a farm near here and died Tuesday, Dec. 4 at the home of his mother, Mrs. Christene Hugelman at the age of forty-four years, three months and three days. He has been a resident of this vicinity except a short time spent at Fremont. Mr. Hugelman has been in poor health for several years. For the last year or two he has been incapacitated for work. He suffered a disease of the nerves which has baffled physicians. He was treated by specialists at Rochester, Omaha and other places but with no avail and death came as a relief from his intense suffering.

He was married June 26, 1907 to Miss Anna Petersen. To this union were born seven children, Kenneth, Bernice, Evelyn, Willard, Leo, Jr., Howard and Ruthine. Besides the wife and children, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Christene Hugelman; three brothers, Wm. of Wakefield, Nebr.; Louis of Kennard; George of Bismarck, N.D.; and two sisters, Mrs. L.V. Ackerman of Klamath Falls, Ore. , and Mrs. C.J. Horn of Herman.

He was a member of Landmark Lodge No. 222 A.F. and A.M. and the Herman chapter No. 216 O.E.S. Mr. Hugelman was a man of kindly, patient disposition, always kind and loving to his family and friends. To know him was to like and respect him. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at two o’clock at the Baptist church, conducted by Rev. Petersen. The Masons had charge and carried out their services at the cemetery; singing was by a masonic quartet composed of Fred Robertson, L.C. Hansen, C.R. Gray and L.D. Long. The family have the deepest sympathy of the community in their sorrow.

Leo Hugelman passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the home of his mother, Mrs. Christine Hugelman, where he had been the last three weeks. The cause of his death was nerve trouble.

Leo was born August 31, 1884 near Herman on a farm and has lived in and around Herman all of his life. He was married to Miss Anna Petersen. He is survived by his wife and seven children, Kenneth, Bernice, Evelyn, Willard, Leo, jr., Howard and Ruthine; his mother; three brothers, Wm. of Wakefield, Nebr., George of Bismark, N.D., and Louis of Kennard; two sisters, Mrs. Chas. Horn of Herman and Mrs. L.V. Ackerman of Klamath Falls, Oregon. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at the Baptist church, the Masons having charge of the ceremonies at the cemetery.

George Hugelman of North Dakota came Friday for the funeral of his brother. Mr. Hugelman will visit with his mother and other relatives for a few days.
