Mrs. Carl Schmidt, Sr, who has been sick for sometime, passed on at her home late Saturday evening, October 4.

Johanna C. Mohr was born at Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, August 9, 1860. She came to America in June, 1873, her first home being in Omaha. She was married to Carl H. Schmidt the 13th day of February, 1883 and moved on a farm where they resided for a number of years, later moving to Fort Calhoun where she has since resided.

Her husband preceded her in death almost 23 years ago. He having died October 16, 1907 a short time after moving to Fort Calhoun. Mrs. Schmidt is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Marie C. Vaughan and four sons, Carl W, William H, and Ernest H., all of this place and Peter C. of West Point, Nebraska, One sister, Mrs. Lena Hinz of Benson, and two half-brothers, John and Henry Burmeister, who reside west of town, and 17 grandchildren, besides other relatives and a host of friends.

Mrs. Schmidt was a charter member of the Woodbine Camp No. 884 Royal Neighbors and was a loyal member.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 7, at 2 PM at the Presbyterian Church, Rev. A. F. Newell of Blair, officiating. She was laid to rest beside the grave of her husband in the family plot in the Fort Calhoun cemetery.
