FORMER BLAIR MAN DIES

BROTHER OF T.L. LAWRENCE, DIED SUDDENLY AT LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA

George Edward Lawrence, 54 years old, died at his farm home near Lake Charles, Louisiana, at 6:45 Friday morning, August 17th. He had left home in the morning apparently feeling as well as usual.

Funeral services were held from the Church of the Immaculate Conception Sunday morning, at 9 o’clock, Rev. H. Crames officiating. Burial in Jennings.

He made his home with his sister, Mrs. J.E. Harrison, in Lake Charles. At the time of his death Mr. Lawrence was an extensive rice planter, also chief engineer for the Farmers Land and Canal Co.

Out of respect to Mr. Lawrence, the county plants closed down at 6 o’clock Friday evening until Tuesday morning. The esteem in which he was held was shown by the numerous friends who called to pay their last respects.

He was born in Lancaster, Ohio, the son of Nicholas Lawrence and Louise Kern Lawrence.

The floral offerings were beautiful and were sent by many friends.

Mr. Lawrence was never married. He is survived by 3 brothers, T.L. Lawrence, who lives on the bottom north of Blair; Frank G. and Clarence, of Welsh, La.; and six sisters, Mrs. A. Perkins of DeQuincy, La.; Mrs. J.E. Harrison, of Lake Charles, La.; Mrs. E.B. Glack, of Houston, Texas; Mrs. J.A. Haliburton of Louann, Ark.; Mrs. E.B. Hebert of Lacassine, La.; and Mrs. G.F. Jones of St. Louis, Mo.
