Found Dead at Wheel of Newly Bought Auto

Glenwood, Ia., Dec. 14.—Samuel Evans, living on his farm half way between Glenwood and Tabor, was found dead, leaning on the steering wheel of his automobile, four miles southeast of Glenwood last evening. Death resulted from heart disease.

Mr. Evans had bought the machine a short time ago from George Otis, and yesterday thought the roads dry enough to take it home. Justice A. H. Otis drove with him to more thoroughly acquaint him with the machine and remained with him to within a mile of where death overtook Mr. Evans. The steering wheel was turned over to him, and he was seen to drive slowly down the road. When found by his son and others, who were driving behind him, he had turned out of the road, stopped the engine, and was dead, resting on the wheel.

Mr. Evans was about 56 years of age and had eight children, some of them grown.

The above dispatch relates to a former resident of Blair. “Sam” Evans, as he was familiarly known was manager of the electric light plant her some years ago, when it was owned by the local company and was a much respected citizen.
