MRS. GEORGE LUSE DIED

PASSED AWAY AT THE BLAIR HOSPITAL EARLY FRIDAY MORNING AND FUNERAL HELD SUNDAY

Mrs. George Luse passed away at the Blair Hospital at an early hour last Friday morning, where she was taken late Wednesday night in a very serious condition. She underwent an operation for appendicitis some six years ago, never fully recovering from it and the shock.

The funeral service was held at the Methodist church at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. W.H. Underwood officiating. There was a large crowd of relatives and friends present to show their last tribute of respect. The floral offerings were beautiful, showing the high esteem in which Mrs. Luse was held in the community.

The music was furnished by a mixed quartette composed of Miss Ethel Mead, Mrs. E.J. Hancock, Dr. C.R. Mead and the writer, with Miss Gertrude Mead at the piano.

Dora Mattie Raver was born Sept. 15, 1869, her parents being the late Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton Raver. She grew to womanhood on the farm where she was born, three miles west of Blair, and after her marriage to George Luse, June 28, 1884, she continued to make her home on the same farm. That was still her home when death found her, so her entire life of 50 years was spent in the same neighborhood.

Four children were born to them: Gladys, now Mrs. John Petersen; Harry and Adelbert, deceased; and George, jr., who lives at home. There are five grandchildren living. Also two brothers, Del and Steve Raver, and two sisters, Mrs. E.V. Heath and Mrs. D.Q. Steed, all of Blair and vicinity.

Mrs. Luse was a loving and dutiful wife, a kind and indulgent mother and was therefore a good neighbor and a true friend. The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of their many friends.

(Note: Re/ the singers in the quartette, the writer of this article did not identify himself.)

CARD OF THANKS -- We wish in this way to express our sincere thanks and deepest appreciation to the neighbors and friends for the many kindnesses shown us during the illness and after the death of Mrs. Luse. We want to especially thank those who sent the beautiful flowers in her memory, the ministers, singers and pallbearers for their kindly services.

GEORGE LUSE, MRS. GEORGE LUSE, JR., MR. AND MRS. J.L. PETERSEN
