MRS. TOM MADSEN

Maren Christina Larsen was born August 14, 1864 at Smerup, Denmark. She came with her father to America in June 1882, going to St. Paul, Nebr. She came to Omaha in the same year and was married to Thomas Madsen, Sept. 16, 1887. To this union were born four children, Andrew M. of Lyons; Harold J. of Blair; Lawrence P. of Lincoln; one daughter, Anna, Mrs. Soren Svendgaard, who died in March, 1919.

Mrs. Madsen came to Blair in 1890 and has lived in this community until her death May 18, 1929. She was baptized and confirmed in the Danish Lutheran church in Denmark. She was always a kind and loving wife, and a devoted mother. Her thoughts were always of others first and she will not only be greatly missed by her immediate family, but by her many friends as she was always ready to lend a helping hand when her health permitted.

She leaves to mourn her loss besides her husband and children, one brother, Rasmus Larsen of Florence; eleven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her many numerous friends. She had been a member of the Danish Sisterhood lodge for several years.

Services were held from the Danish church Tuesday, May 21, Rev. Nelsen and Rev. Underwood having charge and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

Pioneer Lady Dies At Blair Home

Mrs. Thomas Madsen expires at Family Home

Mrs. Thomas Madsen died at her home on west Lincoln street last Saturday morning following an illness of lengthy duration. As Maren Christina Larsen she was born August 14, 1864 at Smerup, Denmark, and came to America in June, 1882 with her father. They lived at St. Paul, Nebraska, for some time and later came to Omaha where she was untied in marriage to Thomas Madsen September 6, 1887.

In 1890 they came to Blair where the family has since resided. Mrs. Madsen was baptized and confirmed in the Danish Lutheran church in Denmark and was also very active in church work in this city. She was always a kind and loving wife and a devoted mother. Her thoughts were always of others first and she will not only be greatly missed by her immediate family but by her many friends as she was always ready to lend a helping hand when her health permitted. A daughter, Mrs. Soren Svendgaard, died in March 1919.

She leaves to mourn her loss her bereaved husband, three sons, Harold J. of this city; Lawrence P. of Lincoln and Andrew M. of Lyons; a brother, Rasmus Larsen of Florence; and eleven grandchildren besides a large circle of friends. Funeral services were held from the Danish Lutheran church Tuesday afternoon, the Revs. Nielsen and W. H. Underwood, officiating, after which interment was made in Blair cemetery.
