FONTANELLE NEWS - Mrs. Bertha Meyer, who died at her home here on Monday, July 9th, following a lingering illness of several years duration, was born in the Rhine Province, Germany, on September 3, 1853. She came to this country with her son, August Flatow, in the spring of 1891, following the death of her husband the previous year. In September of the year 1891 she was married to A.W. Meyer and settled down to housekeeping in the home which the groom had prepared for her and where they have continuously resided since. She was a woman of a kind, amiable disposition and was loved and respected by all who came in contact with her.

She leaves to mourn her demise her husband and son, August Flatow, of Columbus, Neb., beside a number of more distant relatives and friends. The funeral was held from the family residence here on Thursday afternoon with Rev. Wm. Goede in charge. A quartette consisting of Mrs. A.H. Strenger, Miss Leah Niebaum and Gilbert Ruwe and Lawrence Niebaum sang several appropriate selections and the Messrs A.W. Sprick, H.P. Wilkening, George Franke, Fritz Riethmueller, Fred Boschulte and H.S. Monke acted as pallbearers. The remains were laid to rest in the family lot in the Lutheran cemetery near the church.
