BERTHA NEALE DIES IN OMAHA

Funeral services were held Wednesday in Omaha for Bertha Neale, who passed away Monday at the OEA Manor in Omaha. Miss Neale was a sister of Edith Neale of Fort Calhoun.

Miss Neale, 84, was a long-time head of the English department at Central High School in Omaha before she retired several years ago.

She was a graduate of the University of Nebraska, a member of the American Red Cross, active in the Young Women’s Christian Association, and did extensive traveling around the world.

She also worked with her sister Edith in developing the Washington County Historical Museum in Fort Calhoun, of which Edith is now curator.

Burket Chapel of Omaha said memorials are acceptable to the Omaha Education Association’s Bertha Neale Scholarship Fund.

Interment was in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Besides her sister Edith, Miss Neale is survived by 2 nieces, eight grandnieces and grandnephews, including Neale Shaner of Fort Calhoun.
