# 1 - - Pilot, October 9, 1918

Louis Nielsen was operated upon for a perforation of the colon, caused by an ulcer, last Thursday morning and he died of peritonitis at _____ ? that evening. He had been ailing for some two months but the physicians somehow failed to locate the difficulty in time. The funeral was held at the farm home west of Ft. Calhoun at 1 o’clock Sunday, and at the Danish church in this city at 2 o’clock, Rev. A. Theo. Schultz and Rev. N.P. Land officiating. Mr. Nielsen was born in Nimb, Horsens, Denmark, August 6th, 1868 and was there for a little past 50 years of age.

He came to America in March 1890 and lived in Omaha for a time, afterwards settling on a farm in Ft. Calhoun township which was his home of 22 years. August 2nd, 1890, he was married to Gertrude Andreasen and six children were born to them, Anna, Andrew, Eleanor, now Mrs. Lucien Haller, Ruth, now Mrs. Jas. Cannon, Gertrude and Leth J. Besides the widow, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Soren Nielsen.

# 2 - - Enterprise, October 11, 1918

Following a surgical operation on Thursday morning of last week, Louis Nielsen, residing on a farm south of Blair, died at 9:30 the same evening. Deceased was quite well-known and highly respected in the neighborhood where he had lived for better than 20 years. His wife, one son and five daughters survive. Two are married, Mrs. Lucien Haller and Mrs. James Cannon.

Funeral service was held at the Danish Lutheran church in this city, following a brief service at the family home on Sunday at two o’clock P.M. Revs. N.P. Lang and A. Theo. Schultz, officiated.
