FRED T. AHRENS DIED AT BLAIR HOSPITAL SUNDAY

Fred T. Ahrens, well known and long-time farmer of the Blair area, died last Sunday, August 20th at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. He had been in failing health for many months.

He was born at Geddes, South Dakota April 22nd, 1906 and was 66 years of age at his death. He was a son-in-law of the late Lester Barton and Mrs. Barton.

He is survived by his wife, the former Belva Barton and by two sons, a daughter and 7 grandchildren. The sons are Dareld Ahrens, of Blair and Donald Ahrens, of Spirit Lake, Iowa. The daughter is Mrs. Patty Washburn of Salt Lake City, Utah.

Also surviving are two brothers and four sisters. They are Phillip Ahrens of Amour, South Dakota, and Carl Ahrens of Geddes, South Dakota; Mrs. Violet Trowbridge of Tekamah; Mrs. Daisy Randall, of Tekamah; Mrs. Mable Wood of Yankton, South Dakota and Mrs. Connie Thomsen, of San Francisco, California.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Sanford Sorgen conducting the service. Burial was made in the Blair cemetery under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary.

Pallbearers were Clarence Arnold, Edward Quist, Emmett Rogert, Albert Hansen, Tom Campbell and Leroy Chriswisser.
