Mrs. J.T. Pace, wife of J.T. Pace, for many years a resident of Blair, passed away at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Ben Christensen in Bennington at just midnight last Friday night, following a paralytic stroke the Tuesday preceding.

She had been rather feeble for several years but was able to be about up to the last two weeks of her life. Last Tuesday a stroke told the end was near and she failed rapidly until the end came peacefully.

The funeral service was held at the Methodist church in this city at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon, Rev. Carl G. Bader officiating. Quite a number of relatives and friends came up from Bennington for the service, including the choir of the German Lutheran church, which furnished the music.

Burial was in the Blair cemetery, where rests two children and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Martin. Mr. Martin passed away a good many years ago and Mrs. Amanda Martin made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Jas. E. Maher for a good many years after she became a widow.

Susan Arnetta Martin was born in Galena, Ill., October 10th, 1857, so was 70 years, 3 months and 18 days old. She came to this county with her parents when but eight years of age, in 1865, before Blair was born in 1868.

She was united in marriage to John T. Pace in this city on February 22nd, 1879, and six children were born to them, two dying in infancy. The living are Chas. Pace of this city; Frank of Miller, Neb.; Mrs. C.W. Joy of Perrytown, Texas; and Mrs. Dan Christensen of Bennington. Also fifteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Pace was a member of the Free Methodist church of this city and was a most devout Christian, loving and serving her Maker as well as His children all her life. The bereaved husband and children have the sincere sympathy of their many friends, as well as the memory of a beautiful life well spent.
