JEFF ROSENBAUM DEAD

Jeff Rosenbaum, a farmer living in the Kennard neighborhood, died at an Omaha hospital following an operation and the remains will be laid to rest at Kennard tomorrow.

Rosenbaum was born in Virginia about 67 years ago and came to this county about forty years ago. He was a cousin of M.H.B. Rosenbaum of this city, was well liked and respected by all who know him and was a member of the Blair K______ lodge. (smudged)

# 2 -- Enterprise, February 12, 1915

The death of H.J. Rosenbaum, who lived on a farm a couple of miles west of Kennard on the Arlington road, will be sincerely regretted by all who were acquainted with him. He was a sterling citizen, an honest, upright, unselfish loyal man in whom everybody had implicit confidence. His death occurred at Nicholas Senn hospital last Monday, where he had undergone a critical operation sometime since for a hopeless case of cancer. Our Kennard representative promises an obituary for next week.

Hiram Jefferson Rosenbaum was born at Abington, Va., Sept. 10, 1848 and died at Omaha, Feb. 8, 1915. He was married to Sarah V. Garrett, Jan. 27, 1871. They moved to Washington county, Nebr., in Oct. 1871 and located at Ft. Calhoun and lived there until 1883 when they moved to the present home west of Kennard where they resided until his death.

To this union were born seven sons and four daughters: Mrs. Carrie French; Joseph, Buck and Mrs. Mae Peterson, living near Kennard; John and Jesse D., of Spokane, Wash.; Mrs. Nannie Robertson, of Broken Bow; Mrs. Mattie Hotaling, of Goltry, Oklahoma; H.B. and A.D. Rosenbaum, of Omaha; Guy, the baby, died at the age of 3 years. The family were all present at the funeral, which was from the M.E. church last Friday, Rev. Williams officiating.

The large attendance, despite the weather and roads, showed the esteem in which Mr. Rosenbaum was held. The M.W.A. and W.O.W. lodges of this place attended in a body and the K.P. lodge at Blair was represented by twenty-five members. Mr. Rosenbaum will be greatly missed by everyone. All say he was a true friend and a good neighbor, this is the highest praise that can be given anyone.

Mrs. Rosenbaum and her family wish us to thank all who so kindly helped in their hour of sorrow, especially do they thank the K.P. lodge at Blair for their assistance in making the change at Blair, and the Woodmen lodges here, for their help and assistance and for all the beautiful flowers.

We do most sincerely sympathize with the family, especially the wife, who will miss him more than anyone else for he was always with her at home and to him, home was heaven.
