FORMER BLAIR WOMAN DIED AT SANTA BARBARA
Henriette M. Saunders, 68 years of age, former long-time resident of Blair, Nebraska, passed away at Santa Barbara, California, suddenly, following a heart attack.
She was born in Denmark, November 28, 1901, the daughter of Peter J. and Anna M. Hansen Petersen and came with her parents to the United States at the age of 6 months, settling in Blair, Nebraska. She spent her youth in Blair and married Karl Saunders in Omaha, Nebraska, on October 10, 1928. In 1929 the couple moved from Omaha, settling in California. Her husband Karl was for many years with the Santa Barbara City Fire Department and held the rank of Battalion Chief at the time of his retirement in 1957.
Survivors include her husband, Karl Saunders, of the family residence, 296 North Hope Avenue, Santa Barbara; a son, Dwight Karl Saunders, Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada; a brother, Axel Petersen of Mesa, Arizona; a sister, Mrs. Pauline Welshans, Santa Barbara; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. C.J. Petersen of Blair.
