PAUL SPRICK DROPS DEAD

RESIDENT OF WASHINGTON COUNTY FOR MANY YEARS DIES VERY SUDDENLY

Paul Sprick, for 40 years a resident of Washington county, dropped dead at his home near Telbasta Friday afternoon at 1:20 o’clock. Mr. Sprick had been in failing health for several months but his condition was not considered serious and the end was unexpected.

The funeral was held at the Telbasta church Monday at 1:30 p.m.

A native of Germany where he was born August 20, 1860, Mr. Sprick came to America when a young man and in 1888 located in Washington county where he had resided since. He had served as a director of the school board and was an active member of the Telbasta Evangelical Church.

The widow, three sons, Fred and William of Herman, and Paul, jr., at home, and one daughter, Mrs. Emma Smith, of Arlington, and three brothers, Ernest of Blair; Gustav of Julesburg, Colo.; Herman of Herman; and three brothers in Germany are the close surviving relatives.

AN OLD SETTLER DIES

PAUL SPRICK PASSES AWAY AT HOME NEAR TELBASTA

Paul Sprick, a resident of Washington county for over 40 years, dropped dead at his home near Telbasta last Friday afternoon. Mr. Sprick had been failing in health for several months but his condition was not considered serious and the end was unexpected.

A native of Germany where he was born August 20, 1860, Mr. Sprick came to America when a young man and in 1888 located in Washington county where he had resided since that time. He was one of the pioneers of Washington county and endured the hardships so common to the residents at that time. He was active in the affairs of the community in which he resided and was also an active church-worker.

The widow, three sons, Fred and William of Herman, and Paul, jr., at home, and one daughter, Mrs. Emma Smith of Arlington, and three brothers, Ernest of Blair, Gustav of Julesburg, Colorado, Herman of Herman and three brothers in Germany are the close surviving relatives.

Funeral services were held from the Telbasta church on Monday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock after which interment was made in the cemetery near the church.

Paul Sprick, who resides three miles north of Telbasta, passed away suddenly at 1:20 p.m. last Friday as the result of an attack of heart failure. He had eaten his dinner and was assisting his wife in her preparations for a trip to town when he suddenly collapsed and no efforts could revive him.

Mr. Sprick was born in Germany and came to this country forty-one years ago and a year later to this county. He was married to Miss Minnie Meierhenry in1890 and to them four children were born, three sons Fred, Wm. and Paul, Jr. Fred and Wm. are both married and have established homes of their own in this county and Paul, Jr. is still at home. The daughter, Mrs. Harold Smith is also in this county located about three miles east of Telbasta.

Besides the bereaved wife and the children already mentioned, the deceased has three brothers in this country, Gus of Julesburg, Colorado; Ernest of near Spiker and Herman of the New England neighborhood. Four grandchildren also survive.
