SAM STEVEN’S MOTHER DIED LAST WEDNESDAY

Mrs. W.J. Stevens, mother of Nightwatch Sam Stevens, died at her home on a farm where she had been a patient sufferer for several months. She called the five children to her bedside a week before and they remained with her to the end.

The funeral service was held at the farm home at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, the service being conducted by Reverends Owens, Smith and Petersen. Burial was in the Tekamah cemetery.

Mary E. Wilson was born in Miegs county, Ohio, October 20, 1858, and grew to womanhood in that state. She was married to W.J. Stevens and their six children were born to them in their Ohio home, one son dying in infancy. They came west in 1899 and settled first at Red Oak, Ia., moving to Tekamah in 1907.

She is survived by her husband and five children, Mrs. Seth Haley of Irvington, Neb., Minnie who lives at home, Sam of this city, Mrs. W.D. Glandin of Herman, and Fred at Tekamah. There are sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also one sister, Mrs. Howard Wilson of Zanesville, Ohio.
