MRS. STORK PASSES

Mrs. Margaretha Elizabeth Stork, one of the best known and most beloved pioneer women of Washington county died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F.W. Smith, at the age of 75 years.

She was born in Germany, July 19, 1852, and came to this country in 1870 to Fontanelle, where she made her home with her uncle, William Schoettger until her marriage, Dec. 12, 1873 to Frederick Stork, who preceded her in death in 1916. Since then she has made her home in Arlington.

Nine children were born to this worthy couple, four of them, two boys and two girls, dying in infancy. The surviving children are Louis and William Stork of Wisner; Edward who lives on the home place near Arlington; and two daughters, Mrs. F.W. Smith of Arlington; and Mrs. Fred Stork of Fontanelle. There are also 13 grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon from the church north of town and burial was beside her husband.

The many friends of this family extend their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.

Dies At Arlington

Pioneer Washington County Lady Dies at Daughters’ Home

Mrs. Margarethe Elizabeth Stork, one of the best known and most beloved pioneer women of Washington county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F.W. Smith at Arlington Thursday afternoon, at the age of 74 years.

A native of Fuerstwenau, Hanover, Germany, where she was born July 19, 1852, at (? To?) Margaretha Buehring, she came to America in 1870. She went to the home of her uncle, William Schoettger, at Fontanelle, where she made her home until December 12, 1873, when she was married to Frederick Wilhelm Stork.

Mr. and Mrs. Stork were among the pioneers of Washington county and were highly respected by all who knew them. Mr. Stork died in 1916. Since that time Mrs. Stork has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Smith in Arlington.

Close surviving relatives are three sons, Louis and William, Wisner; Edward on the home place north of Arlington; and three daughters, Mrs. Smith of Arlington and Mrs. Fred Stork, Fontanelle. Two sons and two daughters died in infancy. Mrs. Stork had 13 grandchildren.
