MRS. TIVIS BURIED TODAY

DIED AT NOON SUNDAY AFTER AN EXTENDED ILLNESS AT THE MURRAY HOME ON SOUTH STREET

Mrs. Dale Tivis passed away at about noon Sunday at the home of her brothers, Tom, John, Richard and Dan Murray on east South street, after an illness of over a year’s duration. She had been keeping house for her brothers after the death of her husband several years ago.

The funeral service was held at the Catholic church at 10 o’clock this morning, Father Beyersdorfer officiating. Burial was in the Blair cemetery on the Murray lot.

Margaret Murray was born on the farm west of Blair 56 years ago last month and attended the Brewster school. She was married to Pete Ryan and made her home for several years on a farm over on the west side of the county.

About a year after his death she was united in marriage to David Tivis and they made their home on the same farm. One son, Archie, was born to them, aged about 17 years. Some four years ago, Mr. Tivis was drowned while attempting to swim across the Elkhorn river.

Besides the four brothers above mentioned, there are three sisters, Mrs. Will VanHuss of this city; Mrs. Patrick Mackin, who lives on a farm south of Blair; and Mrs. Anna Lewis who lives in Kansas.

The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of their many friends.

MRS. MARGARET TIVIS

Mrs. Margaret Tivis, aged fifty-six years who has been in poor health for some time, passed away on last Sunday at the home of her brothers, the Murray brothers of South street.

Mrs. Tivis was reared on a farm in the Brewster district and was married to Peter Ryan and resided on the old Ryan estate near Arlington where the husband passed away. Later she married Davis Tivis and after residing in Blair for about a year they returned to the farm. Mr. Tivis was drowned some four years ago while attempting to swim the Elkhorn river and since that time Mrs. Tivis has made her home with her brothers.

The funeral services were held from the Catholic church Wednesday morning and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

She leaves to mourn her four brothers, Tom, John, Richard and Dan Murray, who reside on South street and three sisters, Mrs. Wm. Van Huss and Mrs. Patrick Mackin of this county, and Mrs. Anna Lewis of Kansas and one son, Archie of Kansas.

Mrs. David Tivis died at her home on east South street last Sunday morning following an illness of lengthy duration. The deceased as Margaret Murray was born December 18, 1872 at Omaha and had lived in Washington county the greater part of her life. She was widely known in this community, and has a host of friends who greatly mourn her loss. Her husband died a number of years ago. Surviving her, besides her children, are four brothers, Dan, Tom, Richard and John Murray, all of this community; and three sisters, Mrs. Pat Mackin and Mrs. William VanHuss of Blair and another sister of Kansas. Funeral services were conducted from the local Catholic church yesterday morning, the Rev. Father Beyersdorfer officiating, after which interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
