WILLIAM WELTER, FORMER BLAIR MAN, DIES AT TUCSON

Bill Welter, a one-time Blair businessman and a resident of this community for 22 years, died Sunday evening at a hospital in Tucson, Arizona.

Mr. and Mrs. Welter operated a combination service station, motel and neighborhood store on east Washington Street where the Vickers Station is now located. They moved to Tucson in 1956 and have lived there since that time.

William Welter was born at Talmage, Nebraska on April 24th, 1900 and was, therefore, 70 years of age at the time of his death. He grew up in that area and on July 19, 1921, he was married to Olive Zeiner at St. Joseph Catholic Church at Paul, Nebraska.

They moved to Blair in 1934 and built the station and motel at 13th and Washington Streets.

He is survived by his wife, Olive and by two sisters and a brother. The sisters are Mrs. John Fox (Helen) of Paul, Nebraska; and Mrs. Elizabeth Schreiner, of Nebraska City. Six other sisters preceded him in death. The brother is John Welter, also of Nebraska City.

Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paul, Nebraska Friday morning at 10 A.M. and burial will be there.
