John R. Foley, 87

John R. Foley, 87, of Blair died Sunday, May 5, 2013, at his home.

A mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 10, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. and a rosary at 7:30 p.m. at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Blair.

John R. Foley was born January 5, 1926, to Robert and Alma Johnson Foley of Blair.

He was a farmer and spent his entire life on the farm south of Blair.

On June 26, 1954, he married Joan Hughes in Atlantic, Iowa. They were married 58 years and they raised nine children.

He was a graduate of Blair High School and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Foley was a lifetime member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair and the American Legion.

He became an Irish Citizen on September 3, 2009.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Hughes Foley of Blair; children and their spouses, Debbie and Larry Wetterberg of Omaha, Kathy Foley of Blair, Diane Kopf Foley of Omaha, Julie Foley of Blair, Pam and Keith Southworth of Papillion, John and Krista Foley of Dallas, Texas, Ellen and Bill Miller of Blair, Tom Foley of San Clemente, Calif., and Joe and Barbara Foley of Omaha; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Jim Foley and Gerald Foley; and sister, Janet Foley.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret and Dorothy; brother, Robert; and granddaughter, Caidy Wetterberg.
