Raymond Ronald Ryan, 76

Raymond Ronald Ryan, 76, died Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, at First United Methodist Church in Blair. Visitation will begin Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Raymond Ronald Ryan was born April 27, 1937, in Dayton, Ohio, to William and Mary Ryan.

He graduated from high school in Dayton and received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and an associate’s degree from Metropolitan Community College.

He served in the Air Force, Navy, Army and Army Reserves.

He was retired from the United States Postal Service.

He married Judy Ryan and to this union three children were born: Bob, Ron and Renee.

On May 29, 1988, he married Karene Brenton.

Mr. Ryan was an avid fisherman and enjoyed bowling, collecting clocks and the search for the perfect old mustang.

At nearly 29 gallons, he was one of the most prolific donors of blood in the state.

The Ryans made many trips around the world, and his favorite was “In the Footsteps of Paul” through Turkey and Greece.

He was very active in his church serving on many committees, mowing the lawn and singing in the choir. He was a past president of Methodist Men. Eleven years ago, the couple organized the Senior Moments group which is still going strong. He also enjoyed the companionship of his card-playing couples and was a regular member of the Methodist F.I.S.H visitation group.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Karene Brenton–Ryan of Blair; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Julie Ryan of Omaha; son-in-law, Ben Lampman of Omaha; stepsons and their wives, Ben and Jackie Brenton of Chicago, Ill., and Barry and Blythe Brenton of New York, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren: Brooks, Kassie and Brett Brenton, Clara Brenton, Cierra, Ben, Ryan and Sharolyn Lampman, and Jacob and Daniel Ryan; brother, Joe Ryan of Dayton, Ohio; sister and brother-in-law, Helen Jean and Andy Kuna of Darlington, Wash.; brother-in-law, Marv Carlson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Bob; and daughter, Renee Lampman.
