Mr. Joseph Christ passed quietly away Feb. 26, 1915, of cancer of the stomach at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.F. Christiansen, of Herman. He was born at Lurine, France, Nov. 26, 1845, therefore being 69 years and 3 months old at time of death. He came to America with his parents when one year old. They settled at Mascoutah, Ill. On Jan. 22, 1869, he was married to Miss Anna Monken and to this union nine children were born, two having died in infancy. In 1889 Mr. Christ and family moved to Nebraska, settling near Herman. Three years later Mrs. Christ died of typhoid pneumonia. Mr. Christ farmed until eight years ago, when he retired and has lived with his daughter since that time. He leaves seven children, Henry and Frank of Blair; George of Lyons; Herman of Herman; Mrs. Wm. Richter of Arlington; and Miss Emma Christ of St. Louis, Mo; an only brother, Nicklos Christ of this city and three grandchildren. Mrs. Christiansen is joined by her sisters and brothers in thanking the many friends who gave so freely of their help and sympathy in their bereavement.
