MRS. JAS. L. DOWLING DEAD

DIED OF PNEUMONIA FOLLOWING FLU AT THEIR FARM HOME NEAR THE SUMMERS SCHOOL HOUSE

Mrs. James L. Dowling passed from this life at 10:30 yesterday morning of pneumonia following an attack of the flu last Thursday. She had a diabetic condition that aggravated her case.

The body was brought to this city and left at the Campbell mortuary to be prepared on account of bad roads and will be left here for the funeral service, which will be at the Methodist church at 2 o’clock tomorrow, Thursday, Rev. Carl G. Bader officiating.

Carrie Bell Foster was born on a farm near Tekamah December 23, 1876, so was 52 years of age. At the age of 6 her parents moved onto a farm near the Summers school house, where she grew to womanhood and was united in marriage to James Dowling, Mar. 6th, 1904.

They came to Blair after the wedding and lived here and later moved back to the Silas Foster farm which had been their home ever since. She is survived by but 1 child, Doris Fern, an only sister having died in childhood. She leaves one nephew, Glendale Cole and one cousin, Chas. Wickham of Tekamah.

The bereaved husband and daughter have the sincere sympathy of their many friends in their hour of suffering and loss.

MRS. JAMES DOWLING: Mrs. James Dowling, old resident of the Summers school district west of Blair, passed away at her home Tuesday morning at 10:30 o’clock following an illness of but a few days duration.

She was first taken ill Thursday of last week and the illness developed into pneumonia which, coupled with diabetes from which she was a sufferer, proved too much for her to bear.

Mrs. Dowling was born in Newton, Nebr., in 1876 and later with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Silas Foster, moved to this county and to the farm home where she passed away.

She was married in 1904 to Mr. James Dowling and to them one daughter, Doris Fern, was born who is still at home and will be a great comfort to the bereaved husband.

Mrs. Dowling was a woman well liked by those who knew her, a good wife and mother and the bereaved husband and daughter have the sympathy of the community and of a wide circle of friends.

The funeral services are to be held this (Thursday) afternoon from the M.E. church in this city with Rev. Bader officiating and interment will be made in the Blair cemetery.
