Esther M. Anderson, 86, of Blair, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at the First United Methodist Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Esther M. Calhoon was born Oct. 20, 1921, in Pawnee City to Francis and Maude (Pierce) Calhoon. She graduated from Pawnee City High School in 1939. She also graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1943.

She taught school in York from 1943-1945 and Blair High School from 1949-1950.

On Aug. 30, 1946, she married Roy Anderson in Pawnee City. The Andersons have lived in Blair since moving here in 1949.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she played the organ and piano for several years. She was also active in the choir, bell choir and United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, PEO, Bakers Dozen Club and was a 4-H leader.

She enjoyed sewing, oil painting, knitting and crocheting.

She is survived by her husband, Roy; son, Dr. Charles Anderson of San Marcos, Texas; daughter, Elizabeth Anderson of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and two granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by a son, Francis, and two brothers, Charles and William Calhoon.

Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church.
