Services for Emil W. Maas, 75 of Herman who died May 15, 1993 at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County in Fremont are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 18 at Salem Lutheran Church at Fontanelle. Rev. Scott Postlewait will officiate. Burial will be in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery at Fontanelle.

Emil W. Maas was born April 13, 1918 at Scribner. He graduated from Scribner High School and then farmed until entering the United States Army January 9, 1942.

He served in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater during World War II. After his discharge on October 20, 1945, he returned to Scribner and farmed there until moving to the Herman area in 1955. He also farmed there.

He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10535 of Winslow-Hooper.

He married Virginia Braucht August 20, 1941.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Johanna Boljes Maas; a sister, Therese Becker and a brother, Herman Maas.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; one son, David and his wife, Kathy of Herman; three daughters, Carole Osteen of Gainesville, Florida, Kathleen (Mrs. Fred) Stranglen of Omaha and Joyce (Mrs. Gilbert) Hughes of Farmington, New Mexico; two sisters, Lucille (Mrs. Walter) Fischer of Scribner and Frances (Mrs. Delbert) Meyer of Hooper and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Dale Becker, Robert Maas, Myron Fischer, Marvin Fischer, Kenneth Meyer, Steven Meyer, Karl Meyer and Howard Graber.

Honorary pallbearers are Eugene Kruse, Walt Kruse, Lyle Thiefoldt, Marvin Meier, Leland Grabbe and Jim Grabbe.

Esther Langenhorst is organist.

Memorials may go to the Salem Lutheran Church Elevator Fund.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
