Helen M. Lorsch Mackland, 87 of Nampa, Idaho, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 1997 in a Nampa nursing home following a lengthy illness.

Services were Feb. 24 at Summers Funeral Home’s Boise Chapel. Rev. Doug Kempe of Redeemer Lutheran Church officiated. Burial was in Dry Creek.

She was related to Eleanor Lorsch Mommsen of Waterloo, who is Nis Mommsen’s cousin’s widow. Mommsen is from Blair.

Mackland was born July 28, 1909 at Omaha to Julia Baumer and William Lorsch. She married Henry Mackland at Fremont in 195. They moved to Campbell, Minn. soon after they were married and then to rural Ottertail County, Minn. where they lived until 1944. They then lived in Idaho, Oregon, Arizona and Washington, settling in Boise in 1975. She moved to Meridian, Idaho in 1985 and to Nampa in 1993.

She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and Redeemer Lutheran Church in boise for many years.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and Joe Zelkan of Brownsville Junction, Maine and Ilene and Paul Grieg of Spokane, Wash.; a son and daughter-in-law, Carol Mackland of Nampa; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1978; one sister and two brothers.
