Blair Man’s Father Dies In Omaha

W. J. Mackie of Omaha, Nebraska died after a lingering illness at Immanuel Hospital on April 3, 1984.

Bill was a retired corporate pilot of 23 years with Northern Gas Company, and had the proud distinction of over one million miles of accident free flight time. He grew up in the Blair Hills of South Dakota and began his flying career in Spearfish, South Dakota, followed with flight time and instruction for the United States Air Force during World War II, private and commercial flying, until joining Northern Natural Gas in 1952. He has flown everything from bi-planes to jets.

Bill is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Lonne Kay Mackie of Blair; daughter and son-in-law, Lee and Joyce Carlsen of Omaha, six grandchildren; mother, Sophia Hill of Spearfish, South Dakota; sister, Mabel Mattson of Omaha; brothers, Eino Mackie of Lead, South Dakota; and Aaro Mackie of Fulton, New York.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 6, 1984 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 30th and Redick in Omaha at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. John A. Gentleman, 72nd and Western, is in charge of arrangements.
