Mrs. John Mackin Died At Blair Hospital Sunday

Mrs. John Mackin, a well-known Blair woman, died at Memorial Community Hospital Sunday. She had been stricken with a heart ailment several days ago and taken to the hospital by the Blair Rescue Squad. She did not recover from her illness.

Mrs. Mackin, prior to her marriage was a Washington County Home Extension Agent from 1938 to 1942 and in her work she became well-known to hundreds of Club women throughout the county and to 4-H boys and girls. She was the former Ruth Wolfe.

After ending her work as Home Agent, she entered the teaching field. She taught at the Maney and McCarthy rural schools south of Blair and at the Colby School and in Arlington.

This year she has been currently teaching at the Beebeetown schools in Harrison County, Iowa.

The deceased was born at Denton, Nebraska, September 6, 1913 and was 56 years of age at the time of her death. She grew up in the area around Lincoln and attended the University of Nebraska. She came to Blair in 1938 as Home Extension Agent and continued to make this her home.

She is survived by her husband, John Mackin and by two children, a son, Larry Mackin who lives in Omaha and a daughter, Patty, who is at home. A brother, Leland Wolfe, lives at Arlington.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the Campbell Mortuary with Father Daniel F. Brick, of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church conducting the service. Burial was made in the Blair cemetery.

Pallbearers were Leonard Schiebe, Einar Hansen, William Rahlfs, Pat Quinlan, Roy Petersen and Guy Stricklett.
