Harry A. Madsen, 96

Funeral services for Harry A. Madsen, age 96 of Blair who died February 23, 1991 at Good Shepherd Home were held Monday, February 25 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Orum. Rev. Chris Beyer officiated. Burial, with military services was in Orum Cemetery.

Harry Arthur Madsen was born September 26, 1894 in rural Blair to Mads and Johanna Jensen Madsen. He grew up in the rural Blair area.

He served his country during World War I serving for 20 months in the 89th Infantry Division in France.

He married Martha Kuhr on November 23, 1921 at her parents’ home in rural Blair.

He was engaged in farming from the time of his marriage until retiring and moving to Blair in 1962.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church where he was a lifelong member. He also served on the Orum cemetery board and the Rosehill school board.

He was a life member of both American Legion Post #154 in Blair and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1251 in Blair. He received a 50 year membership pin from both Posts.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martha who died on August 8, 1979; one son, Marshall; one sister and seven brothers.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Marian Madsen of Blair; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lela and Howard Loftis of Blair and Katherine and Charles Clark of Blair; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Nels Madsen of Blair and sister, Esther Korshoj of Herman.

Pallbearers were Richard Madsen, Russell Madsen, Michael Clark, Brent Clark, Jim Grabbe and Dave Jorgenson.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
