Shirley Jean McDowell, 84, of Blair, died Sunday, May 19, 2013.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 23, at Roeder Mortuary, 2727 N. 108th St., Omaha. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Roeder Mortuary. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.

She worked as a respected charge backs associate at JCPenney, where she later retired in 1991.

She enjoyed travelling to California, Colorado, Missouri and Texas to spend time with family and friends. She loved to play at the casino and would laugh in such delight at the smallest of wins.

She was most proud of her family, which was evident by the countless number of pictures displayed on the walls in her home in Blair, where she resided for nearly 40 years. Her home was often filled with the scent of her delicious cooking and baked goods, which she took pride in providing for her family.

Mrs. McDowell was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Terry McDowell Sr. (Mary Wildfang), Linda (Rich) Sehi, Sandy (Rick) Johnsen and Debby (Clyde) Rostad; 10 grandchildren, Ronnie Jo Barrios, Terry McDowell Jr., Mark McDowell, Christina Knight, Cheryl Anding, Chad Johnsen, Curt Johnsen, Eric Johnsen, Craig Rostad and Nichole Rostad; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and brother and sisters, Melvin Stanislaus, Fayetta Smith and Mary Graham.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than 50 years, Ivan McDowell; and grandson, Richie Sehi.
