Services were Wednesday, May 20 for Alice Magill, 78 who died May 17, 1992 in a Tulare, California hospital.

Alice Magill was born in Blair to C. J. and Ida Wolffe Beckman. She attended elementary and high school in Blair and received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska. She also did graduate work at the University of Nebraska and at Fresno State University.

She started her Tulare teaching career with a math post at Tulare Union High School in 1954. She joined the Tulare Western High School staff when the school opened in 1959 and was Dean of Girls. Besides Tulare, she taught in the Anna Head private school in Berkley and at one time was social director for the University of Wisconsin Student Union.

She was married to Dr. Harlo Brewer. He was a casualty of World War II.

She married John Magill. He survives and resides in Tulare.

She is also survived by two sons, John Brewer, Sugarland, Texas and Samuel Magill, Edmonds, Washington; one daughter, Catherine Good, Lake Oswego, Oregon and six grandchildren.
