Former Herman resident Dorothy C. Magill, 88, of Blair, died Saturday, April 17, 2004, at the Tekamah Nursing Center.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, at the Herman Community Church. Interment will be in the Herman Cemetery. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home, with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

Dorothy Christina Magill was born Nov. 29, 1915, in Kennard to Chris and Ida (Christensen) Vinderslev.

On Sept. 2, 1935, she married Harold Magill in Iowa. The couple farmed in the Blair and Herman area until 1960, when they moved to Fremont. There, Mrs. Magill worked as a seamstress for the Penney’s department store and Sampter’s Clothing Store. In 1977, the couple moved to Herman, and in 1993, they moved to Hooper. In 2002, the Magills moved to Blair.

Mrs. Magill had attended school in Blair, was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Blair, served as president of the Herman Community Church Circle 3, and was a member of the Bench Club.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sandra Magill of Hooper; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Dick Barnard of Tekamah; daughter, Shirley Allely of Elkhorn; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Vivian Kramer, Virginia, Darlene Dodge, Omaha; and a brother, Chris Vinderslev of Friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; grandson, Kirk Magill; son-in-law, Dr. John R. Allely; two brothers, Elmer and Leonard; six sisters, Helen, Inez, Lola, Ione, Betty and Lila.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
